In this painting I explored the use of Acrylic Gouache for the background and to under paint the objects in the still life. I then glazed over the acrylic underpainting with transparent watercolor. This allowed me to achieve a high degree of realism while preserving the look of a watercolor. After the painting was complete I mounted the watercolor paper to a cradleboard and varnished it allowing it to be presented similar to an acrylic. I have experimented with incorporating Acrylic Gouache in some of my recent paintings but had never varnished the final piece.
