I've been intrigued by Cold Wax and oil paintings for quite some time, but unwilling to jump into oil paints. This painting was done on 300lb. watercolor paper with a limited palette of acrylics, primarily used like watercolor with a water based cold wax medium. I added many layers and etched back into earlier layers. It incorporates the addition of dried organic fiber to create texture and hand painted collage paper. Once dry the wax is buffed to a satin archival finish that requires no glass for display. These Robins have nested in this skull at a friend's house each year for 15 years.
